Dr. Dhrymes offers comprehensive assessments of addictive disorders which will include a diagnostic interview, and may include referrals for laboratory or other testing. Recommendations can then be made regarding the appropriate course of treatment, depending on your goals and preferences.

Psychotherapy and Medications

Dr. Dhrymes can provide treatment with psychotherapy, including motivational interviewing, which is a specific type of psychotherapy to bolster motivation, locate areas of strength, and utilize inertia and the patient's own values and feelings to further their progress towards their goals. He can also provide treatment with psychiatric medications. In addition to general psychiatric medications, he is able to provide subspecialized treatment with buprenorphine, naltrexone, and long-acting forms of naltrexone (Vivitrol).

At-Home Treatments

Dr. Dhrymes also provides treatment in the patient's home. This includes home detoxification, after determining that such treatment is appropriate. At this time, Dr. Dhrymes provides Vivitrol only at the patient's home and not in another clinical setting.

Dr. Dhrymes is a senior faculty member at NYU; other psychiatrists, as well as psychiatrists in training, often consult with Dr. Dhrymes regarding challenging clinical scenarios.
